Warwickshire Liberal Democrats have exposed more secrecy by the Reform administration at Warwickshire County Council; this time in their failure to show on their official Register of Interests who paid their election expenses in 2025.

This secrecy follows on from the failure revealed last week by local LibDems of the Reform administration to publish the written answers to questions submitted by councillors for the full County Council meeting on 16th December.

All councillors are required to declare their sources of sponsorship, in particular who pays for their Election Expenses. This information is then published on the Council’s website, so that residents know who has contributed to the cost of each councillor getting elected.

‘Clarity and openness about the funding of elected representatives is vital to building trust in our politics’, said Cllr Jerry Rood Roodhouse, Leader of the official opposition Liberal Democrat group at the County Council. ‘This administration says it believes in transparency, but this is another example of residents and communities being kept in the dark. The absence of any statements by the Reform councillors that their local campaigns were funded by the Reform UK party raises serious questions as to exactly who is therefore funding them. As it stands, nobody knows where the money for any of the Reform councillors’ election expenses came from.’
