Holding HS2 to account

HS2 is the largest single infrastructure investment in the UK. It’s been grossly mismanaged by the Government, devastating our environment and with costs spiralling out of control.Day after day, we witness the ongoing misery of the countryside being ripped up, dust, footpaths and roads closed, excessive noise and light pollution, all causing disruption to local communities.

The cancellation of the northern leg means the strategic benefits to the country have been thrown away, so that we are left to wonder was any of this worthwhile. The route will not even reach central London and there will be fewer trains leaving London to the Midlands and the North when it finally opens in the next decade. This is a national disgrace.

HS2 and the Department of Transport hide behind a veil of bureaucratic and contractual fluff. As your MP, I will vigorously challenge HS2 and their contractors, and demand true accountability so that disruption to communities across Kenilworth & Southam is minimised.

I also pledge to publish full details of the Warwickshire HS2 Forum so that nothing is hidden from local residents.
